  • From City Streets to Himalayan Heights: Ampere Nexus Shows India What an Electric Scooter Can Really Do

The 425 km ride from Chandigarh to Shipki La ended just 200 metres from the Line of Control, turning a two wheeler into a symbol of clean mobility, national pride, and border tourism

When an electric scooter leaves the comfort of city streets and climbs into the thin air of the Himalayas, it carries more than a battery. It carries a question: can India’s clean mobility story stretch beyond urban commutes into the nation’s toughest terrains?
This week, that question found an answer. The Ampere Nexus, developed by Greaves Electric Mobility, completed a demanding expedition from Chandigarh to the Shipki La Pass in Himachal Pradesh’s Kinnaur Valley, climbing to an altitude of 13,200 feet and stopping barely 200 metres short of the Line of Control.

The three day journey covered 425 kilometres of mountain roads through Shimla, Reckong Peo and Pooh before the final ascent. The ride was flagged off on August 9 and culminated on August 12, on the eve of India’s 79th Independence Day.
On arrival, the riders were greeted by jawans of the Indian Army, who invited them to participate in a flag hoisting ceremony at the border outpost. The moment fused national pride with a powerful demonstration of technological confidence. An electric scooter built for everyday movement had just reached one of the country’s highest passes.

The expedition has also been formally acknowledged by the India Book of Records, which certified the Ampere Nexus as the first electric two wheeler to reach Shipki La. But the symbolism went far beyond a record. For Greaves Electric Mobility, it was about proving that clean transport can move from India’s urban centres to its most remote frontiers.
The Ampere Nexus is no stranger to endurance rides. In 2024, it was ridden from Kashmir to Kanyakumari, an event that positioned it as more than just a city scooter. The Shipki La climb reinforces that reputation. It has proven to be durable, adaptable, and able to keep moving in extreme environments where both man and machine are tested.

Vikas Singh, Managing Director of Greaves Electric Mobility, described it as a milestone not only for the brand but for India’s EV movement. He noted that the ride underlines how electric mobility can support initiatives like border tourism while standing as a symbol of resilience and innovation.
For the EV sector in India, the significance lies in what this journey represents. Electric scooters are often marketed as urban solutions. The Ampere Nexus showed they can be border solutions too, carrying India’s green ambitions into the mountains and reminding us that the road to sustainability does not end at the city limits.

Kia India has reported more than 21,000 bookings for its Carens Clavis and Carens Clavis EV models in less than four months, underscoring the brand’s growing appeal in India’s mass premium segment. The milestone includes over 20,000 orders for the petrol powered Clavis and more than 1,000 for the Clavis EV, which is Kia’s first Made in India electric vehicle.
For Kia, the strong response validates its strategy of blending comfort, safety, and technology across internal combustion and electric platforms. Joonsu Cho, Chief Sales Officer at Kia India, said the demand reflects customer trust. “This strong demand is a testament to the confidence our customers have in Kia and reinforces our commitment to delivering innovation, safety, and comfort.”

  • From Homemaker to Entrepreneur: Adani Foundation and ACC Sindri Back Woman’s Paper Plate Venture in Samlapur

Manju Kumari’s earnings now fund better education for her children, reflecting the impact of women-led enterprises supported by self-help groups in Jharkhand

Jharkhand, August 13, 2025 – In Samlapur, a small village in Jharkhand, the story of Manju Kumari illustrates how targeted support can change lives. Once a homemaker with no prior business experience, Manju is now running a paper plate-making enterprise, contributing ₹2,000 each month to her household income.
Her journey began in 2024, when her self-help group, Ma Jagdamba ASM, received a paper plate-making machine from the Adani Foundation at ACC Sindri. The initiative, aimed at creating sustainable livelihood opportunities for rural women, provided not just the equipment but also the encouragement to step into entrepreneurship.

Working alongside other members, Manju learned how to operate the machine and manage production. The unit now generates around ₹10,000 a month, with each member receiving a share. For Manju, this income has meant more than just financial relief – it has enabled her to enrol her children in Jharkhand Public School, a well-regarded CBSE-affiliated institution, giving them access to better education and brighter prospects.

Her story reflects a wider movement fostered by the Adani Foundation and ACC Sindri, where women are not only gaining financial independence but also contributing to decision-making within their households. By investing in local enterprises and supporting self-help groups, the programme is building resilience and creating communities where women’s aspirations translate into measurable progress.
This initiative underscores the belief that empowering women at the grassroots level can transform families, strengthen communities, and contribute to long-term socio-economic growth.

  • Escape Plan and HRX Rethink Travel Gear, Turning Performance into a Carry-On Culture

With Hrithik Roshan’s design philosophy meeting Escape Plan’s rapid ₹100 Cr scale, the new collection is built for travellers who want utility, style, and speed in equal measure

Travel gear is rarely discussed in the same breath as performance wear, but Escape Plan and HRX are betting on the fact that it should be. In a collaboration that brings together Hrithik Roshan’s homegrown fitness label and one of India’s fastest-scaling travel platforms, the two brands have created a co-branded collection aimed at a generation that sees travel as a daily rhythm rather than an occasional break.
Escape Plan, launched just months ago, has already hit an annualised run rate of ₹100 crore, with more than a fifth of its business coming from offline stores. Its appeal lies in combining functional design with a tech-enabled retail experience, creating products that fit seamlessly into how modern Indians move. The HRX partnership takes that ethos into luggage and travel essentials, adding a performance-driven design language to an already utility-focused category.

For Hrithik Roshan, the connection is instinctive. “With HRX, our mission has always been to fuse purpose with performance,” he says. “The right travel gear can change the way you move, and creating this collection with Escape Plan felt like a natural extension of what we stand for.”
The HRX x Escape Plan line spans luggage, organisers, and accessories, each piece intended to balance durability with design. The goal is not just to sell travel products, but to embed them into an active lifestyle-one that moves easily between airports, gyms, and city streets.

Abhinav Pathak, CEO and Co-founder of Escape Plan, sees the partnership as a strategic move in a category poised for reinvention. “This is about redefining travel essentials for a new generation of consumers. HRX brings a cultural resonance and design ethos that fits perfectly with our vision,” he says. “We see this as the beginning of a category-defining journey in travel gear.”
Afsar Zaidi, Co-founder of HRX, calls the collaboration a meeting of sensibilities. “It was more than just their products, it was the clarity of vision, the design sensibility, and the sense that this is something different,” he notes.

Available through Escape Plan’s own and partner retail platforms, as well as select offline locations, the collection is positioned as an everyday upgrade for travellers who value agility as much as aesthetics. And while the products themselves are designed for movement, the strategy is firmly about building a lifestyle ecosystem, where utility and aspiration share the same carry-on.
    About Escape Plan
Founded by Abhinav Pathak and Abhinav Zutshi, Escape Plan is a travel and accessories platform backed by Jungle Ventures and Fireside Ventures. The brand blends technology, design, and consumer insight to create products that fit the pace of modern travel.

  • From Campus to Catalyst: NIT Calicut Takes the Lead in Kerala’s Next Chapter of Scientific Access

As the first I-STEM Catalyst Center, the institute will anchor national research tools in local hands, building pathways for startups, industry, and academia to work without infrastructure barriers

National Institute of Technology Calicut has stepped into a pioneering role that places it at the intersection of national science policy and local innovation. At the flagship I-STEM outreach event, SAMAVESHA 11, held on campus from August 5 to 6, the institute was formally announced as India’s first I-STEM Catalyst Center.
The Indian Science, Technology and Engineering facilities Map (I-STEM), supported by the Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India, is designed to democratise access to publicly funded research infrastructure. By choosing NIT Calicut as its first Catalyst Center, I-STEM is anchoring its mission in a regional hub that will serve Kerala’s researchers, innovators, and industry players.

Dr. Harilal Bhaskar, National Coordinator and Chief Operating Officer of I-STEM, described the Catalyst model as “living laboratories” – spaces that bring high-end tools, hands-on training, and collaborative projects directly to local users. The aim is to bridge the gap between world-class infrastructure and those who have the ideas but lack the facilities to execute them.
The new role means NIT Calicut will act as a node for boosting the utilisation of advanced scientific equipment, increasing the visibility of underused resources, and enabling partnerships that span academia, industry, startups, and government bodies.

Prof. Prasad Krishna, Director of NIT Calicut, called it a chance to narrow India’s scientific divide. “Becoming the first Catalyst Center gives us a responsibility to bring these capabilities to the grassroots,” he said. “It is about creating opportunities for collaboration and ensuring that world-class infrastructure serves the widest possible community.”
Over two days, SAMAVESHA 11 showcased the institute’s research facilities, conducted equipment demonstrations, and trained participants on using the I-STEM portal for booking and managing access. Delegates included faculty, R&D organisations, startups, and innovators from across Kerala, signalling a broad base of engagement from the outset.
With NIT Calicut now holding the role for Kerala, I-STEM plans to replicate the model across India, ensuring that access to science is no longer dictated by geography.

    About I-STEM
The Indian Science, Technology and Engineering facilities Map is a national platform to list and provide open access to publicly funded R&D facilities, improving utilisation and fostering collaboration.
    About NIT Calicut
National Institute of Technology Calicut is a premier engineering institution known for research excellence, technology development, and regional engagement, with a strong role in India’s STEM ecosystem.

  • Ambuja Cements’ CSR Initiative Brings Open Gyms to Bathinda Villages, Turning Corners into Fitness Hubs

In Chughe Kalan and Mehma Sarkari, free outdoor gyms installed with local youth groups are inspiring daily exercise, social connection, and community-wide wellness

Ambuja Cements, part of the diversified Adani Portfolio, is transforming village life in Bathinda by setting up open gyms as part of its corporate social responsibility efforts. In Chughe Kalan and Mehma Sarkari, these gyms have brought a new culture of movement and health to communities that previously had few structured opportunities for physical activity.
Installed in partnership with local youth groups, each gym offers free access to durable outdoor equipment. From early mornings to late evenings, residents across age groups now gather for exercise, conversation, and camaraderie.

For villagers like Mukpal Singh, the gym has become more than a fitness space. It is a place to recharge, find motivation, and connect with neighbours. “It is not just about exercise. It is about feeling energised and positive,” he said, reflecting a sentiment shared by many.

The shift has been visible. Fitness has moved from being an individual pursuit to a shared community habit. Youth, working adults, and elders alike are finding new reasons to prioritise health. Mornings now begin with stretches, walks, and light training, while evenings see laughter, teamwork, and healthy competition.

Ambuja Cements’ approach aligns with its belief in building holistic wellness ecosystems. By creating open and inclusive spaces for movement, the company aims to make preventive healthcare part of daily life, bridging social gaps and fostering an active lifestyle. These gyms are not just installations. They are a commitment to community vitality, turning once quiet corners into dynamic hubs of connection and well-being.

  • Bigg Boss Chaahte Hain Ki… Aap Bhoolna Bhi Chahein, Toh Bhi Na Bhool Paayen: Bigg Boss 19 Begins August 24

From Rakhi’s breakdowns to Gautam’s rebellion, Shilpa’s stillness to Asim’s fury, Shehnaaz’s innocence to Tejasswi’s game,  Bigg Boss has never been about rules. And this season, the rules don’t exist. The house is a parliament now. But the final word? Still his.

When India’s longest-running reality experiment returns on August 24, it brings with it not just a new season, but a new system. Bigg Boss 19, premiering on JioHotstar (9 PM) and airing on COLORS (10:30 PM), introduces a format twist even the show’s most seasoned fans didn’t see coming, Gharwalon Ki Sarkaar.
This year, the Bigg Boss house becomes a parliament. Housemates take decisions. They pass orders. They face backlash. In a show built on the illusion of control, this season threatens to give some of it away. But viewers know better, Bigg Boss doesn’t hand over power. He lets you think you have it. Until he takes it back.

The trailer, unveiled by JioStar, places Salman Khan front and center, once again stepping in as host and referee. But the spotlight doesn’t stay with him for long. As the camera pans to the now Parliament-inspired house, a season of strategy and self-sabotage begins to brew.
Alok Jain, representing JioStar, described this as a new direction: “This isn’t just reality television. It’s unscripted democracy, with consequences.”
The show is set to stream 24×7 on JioHotstar, with live interactions, meme creation tools, chat features, and real-time voting. The “Jeeto Dhan Dhana Dhan” contest gives fans a chance to win prizes by answering in-show questions. A new meme feature allows viewers to recreate the chaos in their own tone, because if Bigg Boss has always been the conversation, this season, he becomes the content.

But legacy still matters. Bigg Boss isn’t just about who walks in now. It’s about who never walked out of our pop culture memory. From Rakhi Sawant, the original wildcard, to Rahul Roy, the show’s first quiet winner. From Gautam Gulati, who ruled with isolation, to Shilpa Shinde, who held silence like strategy. From Asim Riaz, who fought like it was personal, to Tejasswi Prakash, who built her game with fire. There’s Siddharth Shukla, whose memory still lives in the walls, and Hina Khan, Sunny Leone, Dipika Kakar, Manisha Rani, Urvashi Dholakia, Elvish Yadav, and Abdu Rozik, all etched into Bigg Boss history.

In 19 seasons, Bigg Boss has never needed a script. It needed a house. It needed a few contestants. And it needed one voice to remind everyone watching: you’re not in control here. He is.
Watch Bigg Boss 19 from August 24 on JioHotstar and COLORS. This time, the chaos isn’t designed. It’s elected.Published by Prittle Prattle News – featuring you virtuously
