India’s fire safety outreach crosses 500 million people through global alliance at World Safety Summit 2026
India’s contribution to global fire and life safety awareness has crossed a major milestone, with outreach efforts now reaching more than 500 million people across 64 countries through an international alliance showcased at the World Safety Summit 2026 in Dubai.
FSAI’s participation followed a three year Memorandum of Understanding signed in January last year between Dubai Civil Defence and the association. The agreement provides a structured framework for cooperation across fire safety, firefighting, and civil defence, including knowledge exchange, joint research, training programmes, awareness forums, and sharing of best practices, while respecting national laws and institutional independence.
During the roundtable session, the Indian delegation outlined the impact of the FSAI Dubai Civil Defence alliance and highlighted India’s contribution to advancing large scale, community focused fire and life safety awareness across diverse regions.
As part of the official agenda, FSAI leadership participated in multiple high level engagements, including closed meetings with international dignitaries and parallel sessions. Ajit Raghavan represented the association in discussions with the Dubai Youth Council, where the focus was placed on youth engagement and future ready capacity building within safety ecosystems.
A key outcome of the summit was the announcement by Dubai Civil Defence of a global task force aimed at implementing Artificial Intelligence in fire and life safety systems. The initiative is intended to strengthen prevention, preparedness, and emergency response capabilities across jurisdictions.
Commenting on the development, Dipen Mehta said, “Being selected as one of only eight global delegates for this task force is both an honour and a responsibility. It reflects the confidence placed in FSAI and India’s growing participation in global safety frameworks. Our focus will be on developing practical, scalable AI driven solutions that can be adapted across diverse environments.”
