Recycle Responsibly: Casio India and Change Is Us Clear 1,250 Kgs of Waste at Girgaum Chowpatty
In a focused move to drive citizen-led sustainability, Casio India Co. Pvt. Ltd. joined hands with leading non-profits and environmental organisations to conduct a large-scale beach clean-up at Girgaum Chowpatty. Organised under the ‘Recycle Responsibly’ initiative, the event brought together more than 200 volunteers and led to the collection of over 1,250 kilograms of plastic and non-biodegradable waste.
Casio India’s involvement highlights its broader environmental commitment, rooted in corporate social responsibility and global sustainability goals. The ‘Recycle Responsibly’ initiative, part of this larger vision, calls on citizens and institutions alike to rethink their waste disposal habits and adopt practical, long-term practices that support ecological restoration.
Legal Head at Casio India, Gurmeet Singh, reiterated that Mumbai’s beaches are not just public spaces but living ecosystems. The beach clean-up was more than an event , it was a demonstration of environmental accountability. His statement pointed to the long-term cultural change that Casio India hopes to spark, where every citizen plays a part in reducing waste and protecting biodiversity.
From Change Is Us, Co-Founder Shubbh Mehta said that the campaign stands for more than just one clean-up. It is designed to push behavioural change and remind urban residents that environmental stewardship is a daily responsibility. The event at Girgaum was an opportunity to engage directly with people and inspire a change in mindset.
Casio India intends to continue with similar efforts across other parts of the country under the ‘Recycle Responsibly’ banner, encouraging civic and institutional partnerships that enable cleaner public spaces and healthier ecosystems. With a focus on waste awareness, recycling education, and active clean-up missions, the initiative aims to become a replicable model for urban sustainability.
