Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan applauds IIM Sambalpur’s journey, as the institute unveils new infrastructure, honours master weavers, and charts a global vision with Triple Crown accreditation goals

IIM Sambalpur marked its 10th Foundation Day with a grand celebration that reflected its swift rise as one of India’s top-performing IIMs. The milestone event, held at its permanent campus, was graced by Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Minister of Education, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, alongside key academic and corporate leaders.
Calling IIM Sambalpur “a national pride,” Shri Pradhan praised the institution’s rapid growth, its embrace of local heritage, and its role in shaping a knowledge-based, inclusive future. “In just ten years, IIM Sambalpur has demonstrated the true power of inclusive and innovative education. I hope it becomes the first IIM to achieve the Triple Crown accreditation,” he stated.

The event saw the inauguration of critical infrastructure the Faculty Housing Complex and Director’s Bungalow a step forward in expanding the institute’s residential and administrative facilities. A commemorative souvenir was also released to document IIM Sambalpur’s journey so far.
IIM Sambalpur has been known for integrating local culture with global vision. The Foundation Day included a tribute to Odisha’s handloom sector, honouring renowned Padma awardee weaver Shri Sudarshan Sahoo, who shared his journey and insights with students.

Professor Mahadeo Jaiswal, Director of IIM Sambalpur, reflected on the institute’s decade-long trajectory: “We are now among the top five IIMs in terms of gender diversity and innovation. Our vision is to become a global leader in responsible management education.”

The event brought together leaders from academia and industry, including Shri Sashi Bhusan Behera, IAS, and Smt. Aswathy S, IAS, with the keynote address delivered by Padma Bhushan Dr. R. Mashelkar, FRS. A panel discussion featuring CEOs, startup founders, and corporate leaders spotlighted the theme: “Responsible Management Education for Viksit Bharat @2047.”
With over 750 students across MBA, Executive MBA, Ph.D., and IPM programmes, IIM Sambalpur has become a symbol of aspirational India blending academic excellence with grassroots values.
