  • Cancer Survivors Honoured at HCG Cancer Centre Colaba’s Cancer Winners Meet 2026

The ‘United by Unique’ gathering in Mumbai brings together survivors, caregivers, and clinicians to recognise resilience and patient centric cancer care

HCG ICS Khubchandani Cancer Centre, Colaba, hosted the Cancer Winners Meet 2026, themed ‘United by Unique’, bringing together 30 cancer survivors and caregivers for an event focused on recognition, reflection, and community support. The gathering was organised to honour individuals who have completed or are progressing positively through their cancer treatment journey, while reinforcing the importance of holistic, patient centric cancer care.
The event was hosted by Prashant Pawar, Senior Consultant, Head and Neck Oncology, and was attended by senior clinicians including Sachin Trivedi, Director, Medical Oncology, and Vijyashree Murthy, Senior Consultant, Surgical Breast Oncology. The meet provided a platform to acknowledge courage, resilience, and the spirit of survivorship, while fostering emotional connection among patients and their families.

Among the survivors was Vishnu Meher, a 69 year old retired professional from the shipping machinery and diesel engine industry and a rare male breast cancer survivor. His case highlighted the importance of early detection in men, particularly those with occupational exposure risks and a family history of malignancy. Following timely diagnosis and a multidisciplinary treatment approach, he underwent successful surgery and remains under regular follow up with stable clinical outcomes.
Speaking on behalf of the patients who participated in the Cancer Winners Meet 2026, Vishnu Meher said, “A cancer diagnosis changes your life overnight, but what carries you through is the belief that you are not alone. The doctors and care teams here treated us with empathy as every survivor’s journey is different, yet we should stay strong and hopeful. Today is not just a celebration of recovery, but of courage, patience, and the people who never gave up on us.”

Sharing his perspective on the initiative, Avik Chauhan, Cluster Chief Operating Officer, HCG Cancer Centre, Mumbai, said, “At HCG, we believe healing goes beyond treatment protocols. The Cancer Winners Meet reflects our commitment to holistic cancer care, where empathy, human connection, and encouragement play a vital role alongside clinical excellence.”
Cancer survivors at the meet shared personal accounts of their diagnosis, treatment, and recovery journeys. A recurring theme across these testimonies was the compassion and support extended by doctors, nurses, and hospital staff, which participants said played a crucial role in sustaining them through treatment. The atmosphere throughout the event reflected optimism and mutual encouragement.

As part of the programme, patients were felicitated with bouquets and gift bags in recognition of their resilience and determination. Doctors from HCG Cancer Centre Mumbai also spoke about the importance of mental well being, continuous follow up care, and strong community support in helping patients navigate life during and after cancer. The Cancer Winners Meet 2026 reaffirmed the centre’s focus on building a support ecosystem that recognises survivorship and instils confidence and hope among patients and their families.

  • What Britime London Signals About the Direction of Premium Watch Retail at Ramesh Watch Company

Rohit Chugani, Managing Director of Ramesh Watch Company, and Hiren Morbia, Founder of Sanskruti Time Group, said the addition of Britime London reflects a growing emphasis on mechanical automatic watches within the premium retail segment.

Hyderabad, February 7, 2026: The inclusion of Britime London in the retail portfolio of Ramesh Watch Company points to a broader shift underway in Hyderabad’s premium watch market, where demand is steadily moving toward mechanical automatic timepieces over fashion led quartz offerings.
Ramesh Watch Company, a legacy watch retailer with operations dating back to 1948, has been selectively expanding its premium assortment in response to evolving consumer preferences. According to Managing Director Rohit Chugani, customers are increasingly seeking watches that combine long term value, mechanical integrity, and contemporary design, prompting the retailer to deepen its focus on automatic movements and internationally benchmarked brands.

Britime London, a British automatic watch brand developed under Sanskruti Time Group, aligns with this direction through its emphasis on in house automatic movements, surgical grade stainless steel cases, and sapphire crystal protection. The brand’s design language draws from contemporary British aesthetics while prioritising durability and precision, attributes that resonate with experienced watch buyers.
Hiren Morbia, Founder of Sanskruti Time Group, said the decision to work with Ramesh Watch Company reflects a shared approach to brand curation and customer education. He noted that mechanical watches are increasingly being viewed as enduring purchases rather than seasonal accessories, particularly among urban consumers with an appreciation for craftsmanship and authenticity.

The collaboration also highlights how established regional retailers are playing a central role in shaping local luxury consumption. With over ten stores across Hyderabad, Ramesh Watch Company offers both product consultation and after sales support, factors that continue to influence purchase decisions in the premium segment.
The Britime London collection is currently available at the Jubilee Hills store as well as other Ramesh Watch Company locations across the city, marking a calibrated expansion approach that prioritises brand positioning and customer experience over rapid scale.

  • ₹600 crore vehicle from IIT Madras targets the long road from lab to market

Dr V Kamakoti, Director of Indian Institute of Technology Madras, and Bhaskar Majumdar, Managing Partner at Unicorn India Ventures, say the fund will support IP-led deep tech startups through long development cycles

Chennai, 6 February 2026: IIT Madras Research Park and Unicorn India Ventures have come together to create a ₹600 crore deep tech investment vehicle, with an additional ₹400 crore greenshoe option, aimed at supporting engineering-heavy startups that require extended timelines to move from research to commercial deployment.
The fund, titled IITM Unicorn Frontier Fund I, has been structured as a 10 plus 2 year vehicle and is designed to provide long-horizon capital for startups operating in areas such as robotics, space technology, defence technology, semiconductors, MedTech, and other IP-led sectors aligned with national strategic priorities.

The investment strategy will focus on building a portfolio of more than 25 companies. Average first cheque sizes are expected to be in the ₹8–10 crore range. A large portion of the fund will be deployed at early stages, targeting companies that have reached Technology Readiness Levels (TRL) 3 to 4, with follow-on capital reserved for companies progressing through later stages of validation and scale-up.
A significant share of the investments will be drawn from the IIT Madras ecosystem, while the balance will be allocated across the wider Indian deep tech landscape. Around 60 percent of the corpus will be deployed toward initial investments, with the remaining 40 percent reserved for follow-on rounds to ensure portfolio companies are not constrained by capital during early commercialisation phases.

V Kamakoti, Director of IIT Madras, said science and technology will play a central role in India’s long-term growth trajectory and its ambition of achieving Viksit Bharat by 2047. He said reducing dependence on imported technologies and strengthening domestic capabilities in areas such as semiconductors, defence technology, quantum systems, and advanced engineering remains a national priority, and the fund represents a logical extension of IIT Madras’ long-standing work in this direction.
Natarajan Malupillai, Group CEO of IIT Madras Research Park, said India’s deep tech ecosystem is entering a phase where sustained R&D investment, supportive policy frameworks, and entrepreneurial ambition are converging. He said the partnership is intended to help mission-driven startups scale responsibly while strengthening India’s innovation and entrepreneurship culture.

Bhaskar Majumdar, Managing Partner at Unicorn India Ventures, said the firm’s experience in backing early-stage deep tech companies positions it to manage the fund through long development cycles. He said the availability of patient capital, coupled with access to industry networks and follow-on funding, will be critical in helping founders navigate the transition from validated technology to market adoption.
Unicorn India Ventures will act as the fund manager and will also mobilise co-investment capital through its network of institutional investors, family offices, and high-net-worth individuals. Fundraising efforts will include participation from IIT Madras alumni as well as Unicorn India Ventures’ global limited partner base.
