    Redington Foundation, Redington Ltd., and the Logistics Sector Skill Council launch the Centre of Logistics Training for Excellence at NSTI Hyderabad, inaugurated by Shri Jayant Chaudhary, to train Telangana’s youth in EXIM, warehousing, forklift, and supply chain roles through Industry 4.0-led curriculum and simulation labs.
    India’s logistics sector is preparing for a decisive growth decade. With policy enablers such as the National Logistics Policy and PM GatiShakti, and with extensive infrastructure investments across multimodal corridors, the demand for skilled professionals in warehousing, freight movement, export-import, and inventory control is escalating. While systems and technologies are evolving rapidly, workforce development has remained a critical gap. To address this, a new model of logistics skilling has taken shape in Hyderabad through the Centre of Logistics Training for Excellence.

    Established through a collaboration between Redington Foundation, the CSR arm of Redington Ltd., and the Logistics Sector Skill Council, the Hyderabad centre is built on the success of the Chennai facility launched in January 2024. The Chennai model demonstrated the value of simulation-based learning and industry-specific curriculum. Within a year, it trained both entry-level youth and working professionals using AR and VR modules, industry-grade tools, and real-world case applications. This data-driven impact prompted the expansion of the model into Telangana, a state experiencing rapid growth in warehousing, transportation, and export infrastructure.
    The Hyderabad centre was formally inaugurated by Shri Jayant Chaudhary, Hon’ble Minister of State (Independent Charge), Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Ministry of Education, Government of India. The inauguration took place within the National Skill Training Institute (NSTI) campus in Hyderabad. In his remarks, Shri Jayant Chaudhary emphasized the growing need for a workforce that matches the complexity of India’s logistics systems. He pointed to the changing nature of logistics, marked by automation, digital control towers, AI-led demand forecasting, and multimodal transportation, and underlined that young Indians must be trained in line with these trends if the country is to remain globally competitive.

    The centre’s infrastructure includes simulation labs that mirror real-life scenarios such as truck navigation, forklift operation, warehouse inventory systems, and customs processes. These labs allow learners to engage with tools that they will use on the job, giving them a critical advantage. The centre trains for specific job roles including EXIM Associate, Forklift Operator, Warehouse Associate Executive, and Supply Chain Executive. All modules are co-developed with industry and reviewed periodically to keep up with emerging logistics requirements.
    The curriculum reflects Industry 4.0 principles and includes modules on smart warehousing, digital inventory systems, IoT integration, logistics analytics, and e-logistics platforms. Each learning path is mapped to National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF) levels and is supported by digital learning tools, simulator-based assessments, and soft-skills training.     According to R. Venkatesh, Global Chief Sustainability Officer at Redington Ltd., the initiative is part of a long-term vision to scale responsible skilling across India’s critical growth sectors. With Hyderabad, he said, the goal is not just replication but expansion reaching more learners, offering more specializations, and contributing to the formation of a robust national logistics workforce.

The event was held at Mumbai’s iconic Mukesh Mills, a location steeped in cinematic history, where a 300 metre runway cut through the length of the structure and opened to the sea. The setting became part of the narrative, with a live piano score by Kalmi shaping the show’s mood and progression.
    India’s women’s cricket team captain, Harmanpreet Kaur, graced the runway as the showstopper, unveiling the Tata Sierra × HUEMN capsule. The collection brought together two legacy-rich Indian brands, translating automotive design into fashion while highlighting a shared philosophy of innovation, identity, and memory.

    The limited-edition drop includes a cap, T-shirt, and jacket.     The 12th National Abilympics Skill Competitions and the 12th National Conference on Disability opened in New Delhi today, establishing a powerful platform for promoting disability inclusion, vocational skill development, and systemic change. Held at the Civil Services Officers Institute in Chanakyapuri, the event is jointly organised by Sarthak Educational Trust and the National Abilympic Association of India with support from the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, TPCDT, and IndusInd Bank.
    The two-day event follows four regional Abilympics held earlier this year in Chennai, Mumbai, Lucknow, and Guwahati. It brings together 59 regional medallists from more than 20 states who qualified through zonal contests from a pool of over 500 participants. These finalists are competing across diverse skill categories including engineering design, desktop publishing, photography, basket making, cake decoration, cleaning services, massage, and more. Winners will qualify to represent India at the International Abilympics 2027 in Finland, globally regarded as the vocational Olympics for Persons with Disabilities.

    The event was inaugurated by key dignitaries including Dr. Vineet Joshi, Chairman of the University Grants Commission, Shri Rajiv Kumar, Former Chief Election Commissioner, and Shri Himal Tewari, CHRO and Head of CSR at Tata Power. Leaders underscored the urgency for deeper collaboration across sectors to bridge the gap in disability inclusion and enable structural reforms.
    Dr. Vineet Joshi shared that the experience served as a strong reminder of how India must act collectively and decisively. He called for a national institution that can unify inclusive education, assistive innovation, early intervention, and specialised skilling. His remarks echoed the pressing need for models like Sarthak’s life-cycle approach to be scaled nationwide in order to ensure equitable participation in Viksit Bharat 2047.

    On the opening day, Sarthak formally announced its proposal for the Sarthak Global University, India’s first dedicated institution for disability studies, to be submitted to the University Grants Commission. This proposed university aims to become a centre for inclusive curriculum design, assistive research, teacher training, and vocational education.
    Dr. Jitender Aggarwal, Secretary-General of the National Abilympic Association of India and Founder and CEO of Sarthak Educational Trust, highlighted that India currently lacks the foundational infrastructure required to support over 2.68 crore Persons with Disabilities. He cited a 70 percent shortage of rehabilitation professionals, a 50 percent shortfall in special educators, and fewer than 60 certified accessibility auditors across the country. He urged regulators to consider Sarthak’s proposal as a strategic solution for long-term inclusion.

    Since its founding, Sarthak has trained and placed 1.25 lakh PwDs and reached more than 5.3 million people through direct interventions and awareness programs. Its network covers 2,000 locations, of which over 60 percent are in rural and underserved areas.
    The parallel National Conference on Disability has opened with the theme Sustainable Development Goals and Disability Inclusion. It features expert sessions on universal design, early intervention, accessible employment, assistive tools, and the role of PwDs in shaping narratives and policy.

    As the national finals continue into Day Two, anticipation builds around the winners who will begin preparing to represent India in Finland.
