  • HP Government to Conduct Final Phase of Statewide Scholarship Test with Crack Academy on October 9

With centres across Himachal and participation from over 75,000 students, the program aims to bridge access to national exam preparation for underrepresented youth.

The Government of Himachal Pradesh, in collaboration with Crack Academy, is set to conduct the second and final phase of the statewide Crack Academy Himachal Scholarship Test on October 9, 2025. Held across government and aided colleges in the state, the test is part of the 100 Ratan initiative, a scholarship and coaching program designed to support deserving college students from economically weaker backgrounds.

The upcoming exam will help select 25 final students per Vidhan Sabha constituency, completing the cohort of 100 per region. These students will receive fully sponsored coaching for national-level competitive exams, including UPSC, NEET, JEE, SSC, and Defence services, under the direct supervision of Crack Academy’s faculty.

In the first phase, conducted earlier this year, 75 students per constituency were shortlisted. The October 9 test represents the final leg of selection, offering another opportunity for students from underserved and rural regions to secure high-quality exam preparation at no cost. Students from families with an annual income of less than ₹12 lakh are eligible to participate, making the program one of the few large-scale, state-supported competitive exam coaching initiatives in India.
Over 75,000 college students across Himachal Pradesh have already registered across both phases of the test. Phase II will be conducted on-site in colleges affiliated with the state education department, ensuring reach into remote areas and small towns.

Neeraj Kansal, Founder of Crack Academy, noted that the program was created to remove cost and access barriers for capable students. The initiative is part of Crack Academy’s growing partnership with public institutions, combining academic mentorship with structured learning pathways for competitive success.
The Crack Academy Himachal Scholarship Test reflects an evolving model of public-private collaboration in education. By anchoring the exam inside state-run institutions, the government ensures access and monitoring, while Crack Academy provides expert instruction and coaching infrastructure. Students selected in this round will be enrolled in subject-specific batches and provided career counselling, mentorship, and full-time faculty guidance in preparation for national-level exams.

This education-focused collaboration also reflects the Himachal Pradesh government’s broader objective to improve higher education outcomes and career success rates among first-generation learners and rural youth.

  • Room One Brings Its Goan Bar Mayhem to Maikada Mumbai for One Night Only

Known for bold cocktails and beachside energy, Room One takes over Maikada on 11th October with signature pours like The Disco Porn, The 1988, and The Mental Sour. The night promises a full Goan state of mind infused with Mumbai madness.

This Saturday, Mumbai’s nightlife scene will feel a coastal shift as Goa’s cult bar, Room One, takes over Maikada for a one-night-only celebration of cocktails, chaos, and cultural crossover. Known for its tongue-in-cheek drink names, high-octane playlists, and no-rules approach to bar culture, Room One will recreate its signature vibe for Mumbai’s audience, transforming Maikada’s space at Kemps Corner into a temporary outpost of Assagao’s most talked-about watering hole. Scheduled for 11th October at 10:30 PM, the pop-up promises Room One’s most requested pours including The Disco Porn, The 1988, and The Mental Sour. Each drink carries the personality of its creators, combining intensity, humour, and flavour in equal measure.

The event marks a playful remix of both bar brands. While Maikada is fast becoming known for its hyperlocal storytelling and old-Bombay-meets-modern design, Room One brings the cultural shorthand of Goa’s alternative nightlife with it. The collaboration has been themed around a nod to “City on the Rocks,” a phrase that hints at Mumbai’s classic cocktail identity as well as its hyperactive pulse. For one night, that pulse will slow just enough to match Goa’s more languid rhythm, without losing its edge. Bar regulars can expect soundscapes from guest DJs, high energy, and an atmosphere where every drink is a conversation starter.

This event also coincides with the launch of Maikada’s Bar Bites Menu, curated to pair with flavour-forward drinks. Small plates will feature spice-forward snacks, classic nibbles, and seasonal specials designed to complement the Room One menu without competing for attention. But this is not simply a culinary or beverage showcase. It is an invitation into a state of mind. Room One is best known in Goa for offering not just great drinks, but great memory-making nights. Maikada offers them a new city to play in.

Whether guests are repeat patrons of Room One or newcomers to the chaos, Saturday’s takeover offers an experience that goes beyond the pour. It brings two brands with cult followings into a single space for a few hours of unscripted revelry. The collaboration isn’t a promotion. It is a pop-up personality shift for the night, giving Mumbai a rare taste of how Goa drinks, dances, and lets loose. Guests are advised to walk in with curiosity and leave without trying to over-explain what happened in between.

  • Snapdeal Opens Bharat Swagotsav Phase II with Diwali Gifting and Karwa Chauth Essentials

With over 80 percent of orders from Tier Two and Three cities, Snapdeal deepens its value-first strategy for festive e-commerce

As Diwali approaches, Snapdeal has launched the second phase of its festive sale, Bharat Swagotsav, introducing themed collections for Karwa Chauth, Bhai Dooj, and Diwali. Running from October 6 to 11, this edition follows a strong first phase, where daily orders rose by 85 percent and fashion sales doubled compared to last year.
This phase includes updated selections across home décor, ethnic wear, pooja items, gift sets, and festival accessories tailored for specific Indian traditions. Customers can also access savings through cashback and partner offers from Bank of Baroda, BHIM UPI, PhonePe, HDFC Bank, Bajaj Finserv, and Paytm.

A Platform Built for Bharat’s Festive Calendar
The Bharat Swagotsav campaign reflects Snapdeal’s focus on practical, affordable products designed for non-metro shoppers. More than 80 percent of the platform’s Phase I orders came from Tier Two and Tier Three towns a trend that continues to shape its approach.

Commenting on the rollout, Achint Setia, CEO of Snapdeal, said,
“The response to Bharat Swagotsav has shown that festive shopping in Bharat is about style, savings, and purpose. With this new phase, we are offering more variety and better value ahead of Diwali.”
Each festival collection has been built around traditional events and household patterns, helping users find what they need from Karwa Chauth sarees and pooja sets, to Bhai Dooj grooming kits and wallets, to Diwali thalis and home gifts all under one roof.

Grounded Fashion with a Real-Life Touch
For its fashion line-up, Snapdeal took a different route this year. Instead of a celebrity campaign, the company hosted an internal fashion show where team members modeled clothing from Snapdeal’s festive range. The goal was to show how everyday shoppers can wear festive styles confidently and comfortably without inflated price tags.
This gesture aligns with the brand’s larger message that fashion is for everyone, and affordability should not limit expression.

Preparing Sellers for the Season Ahead
Snapdeal works closely with small and regional sellers to organise and promote occasion-specific listings throughout the year. During the first phase of Bharat Swagotsav, sellers from Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, and West Bengal reported higher-than-expected demand.
Phase II expands that momentum, offering more space to festive categories while helping sellers stay prepared with new tools, product visibility, and marketplace guidance.

A Festival Season Built on Practical Choices
While some marketplaces chase headline deals and limited-time offers, Snapdeal continues to focus on steady demand from India’s working-class families and small towns. The company’s festive playbook doesn’t rely on deep discounts or luxury launches, but instead on reliable value, timing, and local relevance.
By offering products that reflect real needs and cultural habits, Snapdeal positions itself not just as a retailer, but as a seasonal companion for its buyers.

  • TVS Capital Funds Onboards Suraj Majee and Ravi Krishnan as Principals in Core Investment Roles

As TVS Capital Funds prepares for its next growth chapter, these appointments reflect a decade-long focus on building institutional depth through internal leadership and operational continuity

TVS Capital Funds has formally onboarded two of its longest-serving professionals, Suraj Majee and Ravi Krishnan, into the firm’s Principal team, a development that underscores the company’s internal-first approach to leadership evolution and institutional growth.
Both individuals, who have grown within the firm over the better part of a decade, now move into central decision-making roles across investment and finance, as the firm prepares to deepen its footprint in India’s mid-market growth landscape. This move comes as TVS Capital Funds accelerates momentum on its Fund IV roadmap, continuing to back enduring Indian businesses and founders with capability capital.

    A journey from the inside

Suraj Majee, now Principal in the Investments team, joined TVS Capital Funds in 2016. Rising from the analyst level, his track record has been closely tied to the firm’s high-conviction approach in financial services and its thesis-led investing framework. Over the years, Suraj has helped execute and scale several of the firm’s core investments, bringing domain expertise and measured risk-taking to the table.

“Over the past eight years, it’s been a deeply fulfilling journey growing alongside the firm and working with inspiring NextGen entrepreneurs,” said Suraj. “I look forward to supporting the creation of enduring businesses and contributing to the firm’s long-term vision.”
His elevation reflects more than tenure, it represents the embodiment of TVS Capital Funds’ philosophy of internal capability building and institutional trust. His new role will give him deeper involvement in deal execution, strategic assessments, and portfolio value creation, especially in the firm’s target sectors of financial services and technology.

    Anchoring financial governance
On the financial operations side, Ravi Krishnan has been elevated to Principal and Deputy CFO, after a consistent track record of fortifying the firm’s governance systems, compliance architecture, and operational finance. His journey within the organisation has been marked by attention to detail and strategic financial structuring vital elements in managing fund performance across cycles.

“It has been a privilege to witness the values, ethics, and clarity with which this institution is built,” said Ravi. “Working alongside such a committed team has been inspiring, and I look forward to contributing meaningfully to our shared vision.”
His expanded remit will focus on enhancing fund-level compliance, liquidity management, reporting integrity, and working closely with portfolio CFOs as TVS Capital Funds scales Fund IV and beyond.

    Leadership continuity and long-view capital
The firm’s Managing Partner, Krishna Ramachandran, commented on the dual appointments:
“At TVS Capital Funds, we believe in building from within. Suraj has shown sharp investment acumen and strategic depth, while Ravi has brought consistent discipline and structure to our financial systems. These moves are a natural extension of our long-view on talent and trust.”
This emphasis on internal growth has remained a hallmark of the firm’s culture, especially as it transitions into a new phase of growth driven by larger fund mandates, deeper partnerships, and long-term thinking. The internal appointment of professionals who have built their careers within the firm aligns with its values of continuity, ethics, and institutional memory.

    Supporting India’s next business cycle
Founded in 2007 and headquartered in Chennai, TVS Capital Funds is one of the few homegrown private equity platforms focused exclusively on India’s growth-stage mid-market. With over ₹5,000 crore in assets under management, the firm has backed more than 35 companies and executed 28 exits a rarity in the rupee capital space.
Its commitment to India’s economic transformation, including its aim to support the $10 trillion ambition, is underpinned by multi-cycle investing and idea-based capital deployment. The firm’s ability to nurture internal leadership mirrors the confidence it places in founders and portfolio companies building for scale, not cycles.
With its fourth fund now in motion, and the Principal bench strengthened, TVS Capital Funds appears well-positioned to continue supporting businesses that align with long-term national value creation.
