Spices on Tap: Effingut’s India-Inspired Ale Pours at Wetherspoon’s UK Beer Fest
Effingut, one of India’s pioneering craft breweries, is raising a celebratory toast as it enters the global stage with a debut at the prestigious J D Wetherspoon Real Ale Festival 2025 in the UK. The move marks a first for an Indian brewery, introducing Indian craft beer to over 900 Wetherspoon pubs across Britain and Ireland.
The festival, running from 6–27 November, will feature over 30 ales, each specially brewed in collaboration with international breweries, including Effingut. This collaboration not only represents Indian craftsmanship on a global platform, but also signals a growing international appreciation for the evolving South Asian beer scene.
Founded in 2014, Effingut has grown into a cult favourite among Indian beer enthusiasts, known for its bold experimentation and loyalty to brewing authenticity. From Pune to Mumbai to Kolkata, the brewery has built a reputation for making craft accessible, often introducing new drinkers to the possibilities of homegrown Indian beer.
This festival marks a turning point not just for Effingut, but for India’s larger craft beer movement, proving that Indian breweries can hold their own on the international stage without compromising authenticity.
