  • Legacy and Leadership Shine as Welham Girls School Turns 68

Students, faculty, and distinguished alumnae gather in Dehradun to honour the founding vision of Miss Oliphant and Miss Linnell, with vibrant celebrations, creative showcases, and a renewed commitment to shaping empowered young women for the future.

The 68th Founders’ Day at Welham Girls School unfolded with heartfelt celebration, honouring a remarkable legacy of educational excellence and the trailblazing vision of its founders, Miss Hersilia Susie Oliphant and Miss Grace Mary Linnell. Since its establishment in 1957, the all-girls institution in Dehradun has stood as a beacon of empowerment and leadership, nurturing generations of confident, compassionate women.
The two-day celebration opened with the spirited Annual Sports Meet, where students displayed athletic finesse through a series of track events, karate demonstrations, and aerobics. Those who had excelled at state, national, and international sporting events were honoured in a formal prize distribution ceremony.

Sonya Philip, Founder and CEO of Learning Matters and alumna from the Class of 1975, presided as Chief Guest of the Sports Meet. She praised the school’s ability to raise well-rounded individuals who lead with empathy, vision, and integrity.
This year’s Founders’ Day carried special emotional resonance, as the Class of 1975 celebrated its Golden Jubilee, and the Class of 2000 marked its Silver Jubilee reuniting for conversations, laughter, and cherished memories that tie every Welham alumna together.

The main ceremonial day welcomed Ambassador Gaitri Issar Kumar, former High Commissioner of India to the UK, as Chief Guest. Addressing the gathering, she reflected on the institution’s extraordinary journey:
It is truly wonderful how the small school started by Ms. Linnell and Ms. Oliphant has now grown into such a reputed institution. Your motto, Aartt Shanti Phala Vidya, seems more relevant than ever before.

Romesh Sobti, President of the Board of Governors of the Welham Girls School Society, underscored the institution’s commitment to future-readiness:
Welham is far more than a school; it is an enduring community of women. We are building AI fluency at all levels and making our curriculum truly transdisciplinary.

Principal Vibha Kapoor emphasized the deeper purpose behind education:
“At Welham, education goes far beyond academics; it builds character and resilience, preparing girls to thrive in a fast-changing world. We inaugurated Echoes of Eternity, our very own school museum to preserve our rich legacy.”
On the first day, a thoughtful career counselling session, Subject Choices and Career, guided parents and students from Classes VIII and X on aligning academic choices with their strengths. The second day opened to themed exhibitions under Neti Neti – Neither Defined, Nor Undefined, exploring philosophy through interdisciplinary presentations in science, art, mathematics, and literature.

Cultural expressions reached a crescendo with the dramatic staging of Arsenic and Old Lace, a student production that blended humour and suspense. The celebrations culminated with Anhad Naad, a mystical dance drama that explored the cosmic vibration through the seeker’s journey across the seven chakras.
As Founders’ Day 2025 concluded, the message was clear: rooted in tradition, Welham Girls School continues to build the leaders of tomorrow informed, inspired, and ignited by purpose.

  • Green Roots, National Duty: Cosmo Foundation and BSF Unite for 15,000 Trees in Delhi

With DG Shri Daljit Singh Chawdhary inaugurating the drive, Cosmo Foundation’s 15,000-tree plantation with BSF builds on a 1.6 lakh-tree legacy across Delhi, Gujarat, and Maharashtra.

Cosmo Foundation, the community outreach arm of Cosmo First Ltd., has expanded its commitment to environmental sustainability with a new large-scale Miyawaki and fruit-bearing forestry initiative in collaboration with the 25 Battalion Border Security Force (BSF) at the Chhawla campus in New Delhi. The project aims to plant 15,000 native trees on-site, significantly enriching the green cover within the campus.

The initiative was inaugurated by Shri Daljit Singh Chawdhary, IPS, Director General of BSF, who commended the long-standing environmental contributions of the Cosmo Foundation and recalled the legacy of Late Shri Ashwini Kumar, Padma Bhushan and former DG of BSF. The drive is supported by BSF’s commitment to provide land, water, and maintenance resources, and is being implemented by Prayas Youth Foundation.

In 2024, Cosmo Foundation planted 7,500 Miyawaki saplings on the same campus and laid critical infrastructure including a borewell and sprinkler irrigation system to ensure long-term tree survival. This new 15,000-tree project doubles down on that effort, reinforcing BSF’s role not only in national security but also in ecological stewardship.
Mr. Ashok Jaipuria, Chairman of Cosmo Foundation and CMD of Cosmo First Ltd., along with Mrs. Yamini Jaipuria, Managing Trustee of Cosmo Foundation and Whole-time Director at Cosmo First Ltd., graced the event alongside senior BSF officials, representatives from Jamia Hamdard University, BSF School students, and members of the implementation team.

At Cosmo First, our vision of progress includes environmental accountability. This plantation drive exemplifies our belief that industrial success must walk hand-in-hand with climate action, said Mr. and Mrs. Jaipuria in a joint statement.
The Cosmo Foundation’s broader environmental mission has already led to the plantation of over 1.6 lakh trees across 179 acres in Delhi, Gujarat, and Maharashtra. Among its landmark initiatives is the creation of a Biodiversity Hub in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (Aurangabad), where over 40,000 trees have already been planted with plans for 35,000 more by FY 2025–26.

The Foundation continues to actively work in agroforestry, urban greening, rainwater harvesting, and plantation efforts in partnership with BSF, Indian Army, schools, and farmers. Its sustainability-driven approach focuses on native species, Miyawaki forests, and community livelihood generation. Alongside environment, Cosmo Foundation also works in education, health, and sanitation, under its People First development philosophy.

  • Lighthouse Luxury and CRE Matrix Declare Bandra Bay as Mumbai’s Next ₹1 Lakh Cr Global Waterfront Destination

Launched in Mumbai by Maharashtra IT Minister Shri Ashish Shelar, with key industry leaders including Mr. Sanjeev Jaiswal (Vice President & CEO, MHADA) and Dr. Niranjan Hiranandani (Chairman, Hiranandani Group), the Lighthouse Luxury and CRE Matrix report outlines how 8 million sq. ft. of premium real estate could transform Bandra Bay into India’s most iconic waterfront destination.

A new chapter in Mumbai’s real estate story unfolded as Lighthouse Luxury and CRE Matrix unveiled a landmark report positioning ‘Bandra Bay’ as India’s most iconic waterfront destination, with a premium development potential exceeding ₹1 lakh crore.
The report, Why Bandra Bay is Mumbai’s Most Iconic Waterfront Investment was launched in Mumbai by Maharashtra’s Minister for Information Technology and Cultural Affairs, Shri Ashish Shelar. Joining him were Mr. Sanjeev Jaiswal (Vice President & CEO – MHADA), Dr. Niranjan Hiranandani (Chairman, Hiranandani Group), and a host of industry leaders who gathered to mark what many are calling Mumbai’s “Palm Jumeirah moment.”

According to the report, Bandra Bay, a 140-acre master-planned waterfront belt near Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) could host nearly 8 million sq. ft. of ultra-luxury residential and retail development. At an estimated average of ₹1.2 lakh per sq. ft., the region is poised to attract high-value investments from ultra-HNIs, NRIs, and global real estate funds.

Bandra Bay: A Vision Backed by Data
Presented by Mr. Sumesh Mishra (Founder, Lighthouse Proptech) and Mr. Abhishek Kiran Gupta (CEO, CRE Matrix), the report identified nine key growth drivers for Bandra Bay’s transformation including strategic location, infrastructure synergy, limited curated supply, and sea-facing architecture.
Mumbai’s waterfront homes currently command a 15–20% premium over non-waterfront residences. With prices in Bandra West already seeing a 46% gap compared to Worli, the report predicts Bandra Bay will soon outperform both in luxury absorption and capital appreciation.

    The Infrastructure Backbone
The transformation is underpinned by more than ₹2.6 lakh crore in infrastructure investment since 2002, including key projects like the Bandra-Worli Sea Link, Mumbai Metro (Yellow and Aqua lines), Coastal Road, Atal Setu Bridge, and the upcoming Bullet Train. These multimodal connectors place Bandra Bay within minutes of major commercial and residential zones.
Proximity to BKC also means immediate access to Grade A offices. With an expected addition of 7 million sq. ft. in commercial space over the next five years, the report estimates a sharp rise in demand for premium housing from over 8,000 CXOs and high-level professionals.

    Industry Leaders Weigh In
Shri Ashish Shelar remarked, This region of Bandra is poised to redefine Mumbai’s urban narrative. The Bandra-Kurla catchment could be transformed into a world-class township integrating infrastructure, culture, and innovation.
Mr. Sanjeev Jaiswal of MHADA emphasized the government’s vision for inclusive urban renewal, noting that the project is aligned with the cluster development framework and future-ready urban planning.
Dr. Niranjan Hiranandani described Bandra Bay as the “next icon for premium living,” citing the region’s convergence of time, mobility, and lifestyle as unmatched.
Mr. Sumesh Mishra, whose firm coined the term ‘Bandra Bay’, called it “not just a location, but a movement.” He positioned it as India’s response to Palm Jumeirah or Marina Bay.
Mr. Abhishek Kiran Gupta of CRE Matrix added, Our data shows Bandra Bay will emerge as Mumbai’s most valuable waterfront asset. Limited supply, elite demand, and unmatched connectivity will drive sustained capital appreciation.

About Lighthouse Luxury and CRE Matrix
Lighthouse Luxury is the ultra-luxury real estate arm of Lighthouse Proptech, India’s exclusive luxury real estate platform catering to HNIs and UHNIs. CRE Matrix is a data intelligence firm providing real-time, machine-learning-based analytics on real estate performance.

  • Where India’s Students Head Next: UK, Germany, UAE See Record Rise, Prodigy Finance Finds

UK leads with 732,285 international enrolments; Germany, France, and the UAE report sharp growth. Prodigy Finance data reveals how Indian students are choosing education destinations with purpose and permanence.

Not every student story begins with privilege. For many aspiring scholars across India’s small towns and tier-2 cities, studying abroad is more than a milestone, it’s a mission. From securing a family’s future to breaking generational barriers, the decision to pursue international education carries deep-rooted intention. A new insight report from Prodigy Finance captures this shift, spotlighting where Indian students are headed and why.
The United Kingdom has emerged as the most popular global destination, with over 732,285 international students enrolled in 2023-24, according to U.K. Parliament data. Germany follows closely, hosting nearly 400,000 international students, including 50,000 Indians, per DAAD. France has crossed 440,000, and the UAE has seen an extraordinary 29% rise in international enrolments, now hosting over 42,000 students in Dubai alone.

These numbers reflect more than trends, they signal a re-evaluation of what students seek: long-term value, cultural inclusion, and post-study prospects. As Sonal Kapoor, Global Chief Business Officer at Prodigy Finance, puts it: You may be born with limited choices, but how you live and what you achieve is in your hands.
The platform, which helps students from over 100 countries finance their global education, is witnessing a clear pattern: students from non-metro cities are leading the charge. Whether from India’s Northeast or rural Maharashtra, these individuals see education not as a status symbol, but as a transformative tool.

Many are also young women defying social constraints. Prodigy highlights the story of Prachi, a student whose journey from a small Indian town to a top global university has become an online symbol of quiet resilience. Kapoor notes, Working at Prodigy has shown me incredible stories of determination from women who are rewriting their futures despite resistance.
In today’s world of rising tuition, geopolitical uncertainty, and complex visa regimes, Indian students are making more pragmatic decisions. Countries that offer clarity, inclusion, and pathways to career growth are gaining favour.

Prodigy Finance’s data reveals that for this new generation of students, success isn’t just about a degree. It’s about security, employability, and the ability to give back not just to themselves, but to the families and communities they represent.
As the global education map shifts, one thing is clear: India’s students aren’t just travelling abroad. They’re carrying a purpose with them.
