  • Behind the scenes of villa hospitality comes into focus through a new podcast by EkoStay

EkoStay Co Founder and CEO Varun Arora explains why the industry needs more honest conversations

A candid look into the realities of villa and homestay hospitality is taking shape through Ekostay Stories, a new in house podcast series introduced by EkoStay. The podcast is designed to move beyond curated travel narratives and surface the unfiltered experiences, operational challenges, and human dynamics that define the vacation rental ecosystem.
Ekostay Stories brings together voices from across the hospitality value chain, including founders, guests, homeowners, vendors, and internal teams. The conversations focus on what happens behind a stay, ranging from guest behaviour and homeowner coordination to operational pressures, humour, conflict, and unexpected moments that rarely make it to public platforms.

The podcast has been positioned as both an industry conversation and a storytelling platform. At a time when hospitality content is often shaped by reviews and influencer driven narratives, Ekostay Stories centres on lived experiences and long form conversations that explain how villa hospitality actually functions on the ground.
Explaining the intent behind the series, Varun Arora, Co Founder and Chief Executive Officer of EkoStay, said that the idea emerged from a gap in how the homestay industry communicates. He said that while guests frequently share experiences online, especially when issues arise, there is little visibility into the coordination, people management, and decision making that happens behind the scenes. According to him, the podcast aims to open that door and present the industry as it truly operates.

He added that building and managing vacation homes involves multiple layers, from sourcing properties and preparing them for guests to balancing expectations across homeowners, staff, competitors, and local authorities. These realities, he noted, are often invisible despite being central to the guest experience.
Ekostay Stories follows an informal and candid conversation format described internally as a tea party, allowing space for humour, disagreement, vulnerability, and reflection. Early episodes explore real incidents and experiences drawn from day to day operations, offering perspectives that range from light hearted to challenging.

The podcast has been created for a broad audience. It is relevant to hospitality and travel professionals, property owners, and aspiring hosts, as well as travellers interested in understanding how villa brands operate. It also serves as a transparent window for students, managers, and entrepreneurs exploring careers or ventures in hospitality and consumer services.
Episodes will be released weekly and will cover topics such as homeowner relationships, workforce challenges, competition, regulatory navigation, and changing traveller behaviour. Future conversations are expected to also examine longer stays, remote work led travel patterns, and the role of technology in shaping transparency and trust within the alternative accommodation sector.
As India’s vacation rental market continues to evolve, Ekostay Stories reflects a growing demand for authenticity and openness. By turning operational realities into shared conversations, the podcast aims to contribute to more informed dialogue around how hospitality brands are built, tested, and sustained.

  • High street retail and luxury living converge in Ludhiana with a new mixed use project

Omaxe Executive Director Jatin Goel outlines plans for a 5.25 acre development at Ghumar Mandi backed by a Rs. 500 crore investment

Omaxe Ltd. has announced a new mixed use development in Ludhiana with the launch of Omaxe Chowk, a project planned at Ghumar Mandi, one of the city’s most established commercial and wedding shopping districts. The development involves an investment of Rs. 500 crore and will be spread across approximately 5.25 acres, combining organised high street retail with luxury residential spaces.
The project is being developed on land secured through a competitive bidding process conducted by the Rail Land Development Authority and will be executed on a leasehold basis. Conceived as an integrated urban destination, Omaxe Chowk is designed to bring structured retail, dining, entertainment, and residential living into a single, well planned environment within Ludhiana’s high footfall market.

According to the company, the development reflects evolving consumer behaviour, where shopping is increasingly linked with social interaction and lifestyle experiences. Omaxe Chowk is planned as a modern high street destination with a strong focus on wedding shopping, jewellery, fashion, destination dining, and entertainment, while retaining alignment with the city’s long standing commercial culture.
Speaking on the announcement, Jatin Goel, Executive Director at Omaxe Ltd., said that Ludhiana continues to be an important market for the company due to its strong entrepreneurial base and commercial activity. He stated that the objective of Omaxe Chowk is to create a destination that combines structure, comfort, and convenience, with particular emphasis on walk to shop access and seamless movement between residential, retail, and dining spaces.

The development will include a mix of premium retail shops, wedding and jewellery showrooms, fashion outlets, destination dining options, and an entertainment zone. A dedicated flagship food and experience area named Dawatpur is also planned as part of the project. The offering is expected to cater to local shoppers as well as non resident Indians who visit Ludhiana for wedding and occasion led purchases.
Omaxe Chowk has been designed with a two side frontage, providing access from Rani Jhansi Road on one side and College Road on the other, improving visibility and ease of entry. The project will feature wide access roads, organised entry and exit points, internal circulation planning, and parking capacity for over 1,000 vehicles. Wide pedestrian walkways and heritage inspired architecture combined with modern design elements form part of the overall layout.

The company expects the project to generate employment during the construction phase and create long term job opportunities across retail operations, food and beverage services, security, maintenance, and facility management. The development is also expected to support surrounding businesses by increasing footfall and contributing to sustained economic activity in the area.
Omaxe Chowk is being developed as a public private partnership project under an agreement between the Rail Land Development Authority and Ludhiana Wholesale Market Private Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Omaxe Ltd. The project is scheduled for delivery in line with RERA timelines by June 2030.

  • Junior shuttlers hear the Chicago Bulls lesson as Daaji addresses HGBA finals in Hyderabad

Heartfulness Global Guide Shri Kamlesh Patel shares insights from Michael Jordan and Phil Jackson while Dev Ruparelia and Tanvi Patri clinch U 19 singles titles

Hyderabad, 10 January 2026: The Yonex Sunrise All India Junior Ranking Badminton Tournament 2026 Under 19 concluded at the Heartfulness Gopichand Badminton Academy with a closing ceremony that brought together young athletes, coaches, and officials from across the country. The event was graced by Kamlesh Patel, affectionately known as Daaji, who addressed the finalists and participants at the conclusion of the tournament.
Speaking to the young shuttlers, Shri Kamlesh Patel delivered a message on the role of inner balance and perspective in sport, encouraging players to treat both victory and defeat as part of a larger life journey. He urged athletes to remain grounded and committed to their practice, noting that dedication to the sport itself is a marker of success.

Drawing from global sports history, Shri Kamlesh Patel shared the story of basketball legend Michael Jordan and his coach Phil Jackson, describing how the Chicago Bulls evolved into a championship winning team. He highlighted how the introduction of group meditation under Jackson’s leadership played a key role in improving coordination, focus, and team synergy. He added that a similar approach later contributed to championship success when Jackson coached the Los Angeles Lakers.
Elaborating on the concept of inner focus, Shri Kamlesh Patel explained that meditation helps awaken hidden potential and enhances intuitive awareness, enabling athletes to respond more effectively during competition. Referring to the Bhagavad Gita teaching “Yoga karmasu kausalam,” he said that excellence in action can be achieved through inner discipline, whether in sports, academics, or everyday life.

The address concluded with a video presentation illustrating the impact of meditation on Michael Jordan’s career. Shri Kamlesh Patel encouraged the players to incorporate meditation into their daily routines, even briefly before matches, to cultivate clarity and composure under pressure.
On the court, the tournament delivered competitive performances across categories. In the Boys’ Singles Under 19 final, Dev Ruparelia of Maharashtra defeated Nishchal Chand of Uttar Pradesh with a score of 21 19, 22 20. • India’s gig workforce faces a career crossroads as millions seek pathways beyond short term work

Primus Partners report examines income trends, skill gaps, and mobility challenges impacting 23.5 million young workers

India’s gig workforce is at a pivotal stage, with millions of young workers navigating limited income progression and uncertain long term mobility, according to a new report released by Primus Partners. Titled Unlocking the Future: Finding a Path for 23.5 Million Indian Youth to Transition Beyond the Gig Economy, the report analyses income patterns, skilling gaps, and social protection challenges shaping the careers of gig workers across the country.

The study highlights that while digital platforms have enabled large scale employment absorption, income growth remains constrained for a large segment of the workforce. More than 60 percent of surveyed gig workers reported working full time hours, with average monthly earnings of approximately ₹22,500. Income increases were found to be primarily driven by longer working hours rather than structured skill advancement or role progression.

According to the report, early entry into gig work, often immediately after completing school, can have a lasting impact on career trajectories. In the absence of formal skilling or transition pathways, many workers continue in similar roles through their mid twenties, even as financial responsibilities increase. The findings suggest that without intervention, this pattern could limit long term productivity growth and income security.
Social protection gaps also remain a key concern. The study notes that 31 percent of gig workers surveyed lacked access to basic protections such as insurance, pension coverage, or savings linked benefits. Workers who reported access to training and basic protections also indicated higher levels of financial stability and improved earning potential, reinforcing the link between skill development and income mobility.

Commenting on the findings, Nilaya Varma, Co Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Primus Partners, said, “The gig economy has created scale and flexibility in India’s labour market. The next phase must focus on enabling skill development, income progression, and mobility so that gig work becomes a stepping stone to more sustainable livelihoods.”

The report outlines opportunities to strengthen the gig ecosystem through structured skilling pathways, portable benefits, and clearer transition mechanisms into higher value roles. Aligning platform operators, policymakers, and industry stakeholders around these priorities, it notes, will be critical to unlocking stronger workforce outcomes over the coming decade.

  • AML investigations see sharp efficiency gains with the introduction of AMLens by HGS

HGS Americas sales head Eric Purdum details productivity gains, explainable AI use, and reduced alert fatigue

HGS has introduced AMLens, a new AI powered solution aimed at improving the speed and accuracy of Anti Money Laundering investigations for financial institutions. The solution is designed to address long standing challenges such as manual case handling, alert fatigue, and fragmented data environments within AML operations.
HGS, which is listed on the BSE and NSE, operates across digital experience, business process management, and digital media services. With AMLens, the company is targeting banks and financial institutions seeking to improve regulatory compliance while enabling investigators to focus on high priority cases.

AMLens integrates machine learning and natural language processing to support AML teams across detection, triage, contextualisation, and case summarisation. The platform consolidates data from structured transaction records and unstructured sources such as internal notes and external public records into a single interface, allowing analysts to review cases with greater clarity and context.
According to HGS, the solution is built as a modular and API first platform, allowing it to integrate with existing client systems. AMLens is positioned for use across retail and consumer banking, payments and fintech, credit card and lending operations, and wealth management.

Speaking about the launch, Eric Purdum, Head of Sales Americas at HGS, said that financial crime teams are under increasing pressure to act quickly within complex regulatory environments. He said, “Legacy systems overwhelm analysts with false positives and fragmented information, slowing response times. AMLens applies explainable AI with human validation to automate routine monitoring tasks while maintaining transparency. This helps investigators focus on cases that require deeper judgment.”
Early client deployments of AMLens have demonstrated measurable improvements in operational efficiency. HGS stated that case analysis time has been reduced by 75 percent, with average review time dropping from nearly two hours to around 30 minutes. False positive rates have declined by more than 60 percent, improving investigator focus and contributing to a threefold increase in daily case throughput.

The platform also supports AI assisted narrative generation alongside human oversight. In flagged scenarios such as rapid international wire transfers, AMLens enables analysts to categorise risk, request additional information within the workflow, and generate structured suspicious activity reports supported by AI while retaining final decision control.
Overall turnaround time for investigations has been reduced from approximately 48 hours to 12 hours, allowing financial institutions to respond faster to potential financial crime while remaining aligned with regulatory expectations.

  • A dinosaur themed sneaker takes shape through the latest ASICS SportStyle and doublet partnership

The GEL QUANTUM 360 I AMP blends reptilian textures, bold graphics, and functional molding to turn everyday movement into an immersive visual experience

National, 12th January 2026: ASICS SportStyle has collaborated with Japanese fashion brand doublet on a new sneaker release titled the GEL QUANTUM 360 I AMP. The collaboration draws inspiration from the world of the Jurassic period, translating prehistoric imagery into a contemporary footwear design.
The sneaker features a bold graphic print of a dinosaur’s head that extends across the upper. A 3D printing process has been used to create a textured surface that resembles reptilian skin. In addition, three dimensionally placed polyurethane elements are integrated into the design, giving the impression that the outline of the dinosaur’s head is rising from the shoe itself.

These design elements reflect ASICS’ focus on precise molding techniques and functional beauty, with established sports technology incorporated beneath the expressive exterior. The approach balances visual experimentation with the brand’s performance driven foundation.
The sole design follows a color scheme inspired by the image of a dinosaur’s teeth and gums. When the heels of both shoes are placed together and the toes are moved, the visual effect resembles a dinosaur opening and closing its jaws, adding an interactive element to the footwear.

Designed to encourage a sense of play, the sneaker invites wearers to engage with the concept during everyday moments. The collaboration aims to transform ordinary movement into a more engaging experience through imaginative design rooted in technical craftsmanship.

ASICS is derived from the Latin phrase Anima Sana In Corpore Sano, meaning A Sound Mind in a Sound Body, which continues to serve as the brand’s foundational philosophy. Founded in 1949 by Kihachiro Onitsuka, ASICS is a global designer, developer, and manufacturer of running shoes, sports footwear, apparel, and accessories. The stripe design featured on the sides of ASICS shoes is a registered trademark of ASICS Corporation.
